2001 Spotwave arrives in U.S. By In Business Media Network Staff Spotwave Wireless Inc., the Ottawa-based developer of mobile-communications technology, announced Tuesday it has expanded into the United States, opening an office in Atlanta. The new U.S. presence for Spotwave will be presided over by Randy Borne, who has been appointed Spotwave's vice-president of strategic sales. Borne has been given the responsibility of expanding Spotwave's customer base and managing relations with current customers, which include major U.S. communications carriers. "We've had strong early success in the U.S., with top-tier wireless carriers already signed up," Spotwave CEO Shane Young said in a statement. "Randy will be instrumental in leveraging these early successes and driving growth in the U.S." Borne stated: "The tier-one customers, solid business plan and impressive list of financial backers are the qualities that attracted me to Spotwave. I look forward to continuing the pattern of success already demonstrated by the company at this very exciting phase of its evolution."
