EDGEFLOW “LIGHTNING ROD” STRATEGY CONTINUES TO ATTRACT SENIOR TALENT

Henry Chow, Former Founder of Extreme Packet Devices, Joins edgeflow

Ottawa, ON, May 1, 2001 — edgeflow Inc. (www.edgeflow.com), a developer of intelligent optical networking products, today announced that its “lightning rod” strategy — of hiring leaders to attract leaders — continues to produce results. The caliber of the edgeflow team, along with the compelling opportunity that it is pursuing, has allowed the company to attract top-class talent. Today, the company announced the newest senior recruit, Henry Chow, one of the founders and chief architect of Extreme Packet Devices.

Chow joins edgeflow in a strategic role in product development. Most recently, Chow was an architect with PMC-Sierra, a Nasdaq 100 company (NASDAQ: PMCS), after its acquisition of Extreme Packet Devices in March of last year. Prior to Extreme, Chow spent nine years with Newbridge Networks (acquired by Alcatel, NYSE: ALA) in various senior management and architect roles, and began his career in 1982 at Mitel (NYSE: MLT). In 2000, Chow was recognized as an exceptional leader with his appointment as one of the Ottawa Business Journal’s coveted “Forty Under Forty”.

The company also announced that it has named Gwen Avery to lead marketing communications initiatives. Prior to edgeflow, Avery was vice president of marketing operations for JetForm Corporation (NASDAQ: FORM; TSE: JFM), the eighth-largest software company in Canada. With more than a dozen years of high technology marketing communications experience, Avery will spearhead awareness and lead-generation activities for edgeflow.

“Quite simply, under any economic conditions, the best team wins and edgeflow is committed to building the best team in the industry,” said Wes Biggs, edgeflow co-founder and CEO. “The real beneficiaries of this strategy will be our investors and future customers, as the entire edgeflow team works together to bring to market a unique and compelling solution for metro optical networks.”

edgeflow plans to expand to approximately 100 employees by the end of the calendar year, and it is well on track to achieve that goal.
