EDGEFLOW™ ANNOUNCES
ADVISORY COUNCIL TO GUIDE STRATEGIC DIRECTION
Executives from
Metromedia Fiber Network, LayerOne, American Fiber Systems, Equinix, Universe2U
and CANARIE

customer and research communities
Ottawa, ON, May 22, 2001 — edgeflow Inc. (www.edgeflow.com), a
developer of intelligent optical networking systems, today announced the
creation of an advisory council, and the appointment of eleven charter members,
world-class luminaries from industry and research. They include advisors chosen
to represent prospective customer segments.
Central to the edgeflow™
advisory council are several known technology and business leaders who will
assist in refining edgeflow’s overall business strategy and technical vision.
They include:
·
Dr. Rongqing Hui, an optical communications researcher
and a professor at the University of Kansas who has consulted for various
fiber-optic communications companies. Dr. Hui has published widely and holds a
number of US patents in the area of optical technologies. He is an editor of
optical transmission and switching for IEEE Transactions on Communications.
·
Bill St-Arnaud, senior director of network projects for
CANARIE Inc., Canada’s advanced Internet development organization. A

Ventures Corporation, a mentor capital firm focusing on networking and telecom
infrastructure start-ups. Ken is a chartered accountant, and prior to Eagle
One, he was executive vice president administration and chief financial officer
at Newbridge Networks (acquired by Alcatel, NYSE: ALA). As CFO, he was
instrumental in the creation, incubation and exit strategies of many Newbridge
affiliates — notably Tundra, Cambrian (acquired by Nortel), and Abatis
(acquired by Redback) — and in Newbridge’s early investment in Juniper
Networks.
Advisors chosen by edgeflow to represent
the interests of prospective customers include:
·
Scott Berry, director of global product management at
Metromedia Fiber Network, the leader in deployment of optical IP Internet
infrastructure within key metropolitan areas domestically and internationally;
·
Bob Collet, chief technology officer for Velocita Corp.,
a nationwide broadband networks provider serving communications carriers,
Internet service providers, and corporate and government customers;

Paul Körber, executive vice president of technology
solutions at Universe2U Inc. (OTC/ BB: UTOU), a preferred facilities-based

and “managed access” solutions. Universe2U is developing its community networks
in partnership with local governments, rights-of-way owners, institutions and
businesses;
·
John Marshall, founder and CEO of JCI Corporation,
provider of a fiber-based network and the FIRELINE suite of file transport,
video collaboration and storage services which are being established as the
primary digital collaboration platform for North America's entertainment
creation industry;

Kevin Mullaney, chief technology officer of
privately-held American Fiber Systems, an independent provider of metropolitan
dark fiber optic communications networks for carriers and service providers in
mid-sized U.S. cities;
·
Alexander Muse, founder, president and CEO of LayerOne;
a privately-held pioneer company in optical transport exchange; and,
·

liaison for Equinix (NASDAQ: EQIX), the creators of Internet Business Exchange™

availability of bandwidth from multiple networks, scalable interconnection, complete
neutrality and multi-level physical security.
“We have applied the
principles of our ‘lightning rod’ recruiting strategy to the selection of
advisory council members,” said Wes Biggs, edgeflow co-founder and CEO. “In
building our team at edgeflow, we saw that hiring key individuals helped us
attract the best-respected managers and networking experts in this
community. We expect to have a similar
impact on winning customers and building our business by bringing such esteemed
advisors to the table. Every one of these individuals brings incredible value
to our organization.”
According to industry
analyst, Deb Mielke of Treillage Network Strategies, an advisory council of the
caliber of edgeflow’s is a differentiator for a young company. “Being able to
tap into the experience that this group brings is a substantial competitive
advantage for edgeflow.”
The edgeflow advisory
board will provide ongoing counsel and advice to the company’s management team,
as required.
In June 2001, the
advisors will be onsite at the company’s headquarters in Ottawa to review the
substantial progress the company is making in securing widespread customer
support for its hardware and software solution.
