Elliptic Semiconductor's intellectual property protection technology has been integrated into Frontier Silicon's Chorus family of digital audio receivers.

Ottawa-based Elliptic said the Watford, England maker of programmable baseband receivers had selected Elliptic to provide enhanced security capability for multi-scheme digital rights management, allowing for the safe and controlled distribution of digital audio and Internet radio content.

"This licensing deal with Frontier Silicon takes Elliptic into a new domain of digital audio applications. The Frontier team's guidance and integration of our technology with theirs was excellent," said Elliptic CEO Richard White in a statement.

Elliptic's technology will allow broadcaster customers to offer premium content and subscription services for digital radio, the companies said.

Frontier's customers include audio giants such as Bang & Olufsen, Sony, Bose and Yamaha.
