TenXc Wireless has won a deal with Indian telecom operator Reliance Communications to supply antennas for its nationwide GSM network.
Ottawa-based TenXc said it would be providing its spectrum-efficient bi-sector array antennas to Reliance for its second-generation network, and is shipping product to multiple cities in India this week, although company spokesperson Minya Gavrilovic said he could not comment on the value of the deal or shipment numbers.
"The significance of this is that we're a small company that's had a large impact in the international business domain; it's not easy to do business in India, especially for a small company, but we've shown that's possible," said Mr. Gavrilovic.
The antennas will help to increase the efficiency of radio spectrum for the Indian company ahead of Reliance's nationwide rollout of its third-generation telecom service offering. Reliance is currently in the process of a $500-million global tender for about 12 million to 15 million 3G lines, initially covering 50 cities, according to a report by The Economic Times of India.
