DragonWave Inc. has won a deal to work with Sprint in providing mobile broadband services across North America.

The Ottawa-based wireless networks supplier said Sprint has selected DragonWave's Internet protocol (IP) backhaul solutions for its XOHM-branded WiMAX mobile broadband services.

"We are delighted to be selected by Sprint as a wireless backhaul provider for use in their 4G mobile broadband XOHM network," said DragonWave CEO Peter Allen in a statement. "Our flexible family of high-capacity IP-based backhaul solutions contributes to the needs of the 4G (fourth-generation) business case. We are excited to continue to bring these benefits to Sprint XOHM as its nationwide rollout moves forward."

Sprint will initially be deploying DragonWave's Horizon Compact and Horizon Duo products in the Baltimore/Washington and Chicago markets, the company said.
