DragonWave Inc. announced two new products Monday, introducing a new pseudowire service delivery unit (SDU) product portfolio and expanding its line of native Ethernet radios.

The Ottawa-based supplier of next-generation wireless networks says its new Horizon Duo, which has a capacity of 1.6 Gbps per link, will provide the highest capacity carrier-grade Ethernet solution at the lowest cost per bit on the market.

"We are breaking the speed barrier for carrier wireless networks with a core, high-capacity solution built for our carrier customers' ongoing growth in high-bandwidth services," Alan Solheim, DragonWave's vice-president of product management, said in a statement.

The company also introduced a new SDU product portfolio enabling carriers to converge time division multiplexing and internet protocol services traffic across a single, wireless infrastructure.

There are three versions of the SDU: a 16-port T1/E1 version, a two-port DS3 version and a one-port OC3/STM1 version.

"The SDU enables carriers to gradually and cost-effectively migrate more of their network from TDM circuits to packet-based traffic and realize the benefits of true network convergence. With network operations and management so simplified, this enables carriers to more aggressively address new markets," said Mr. Solheim.

Both products will be showcased early next month at the CTIA Wireless tradeshow, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from April 1-3.
