Two of DragonWave Inc.'s products will be used to help provide wireless service to as many as 75 metropolitan U.S. markets, with a new agreement with Nextlink Wireless Inc.

DragonWave said the Virginia-based company, which is the largest local multipoint distribution service wireless spectrum holder in the United States, had agreed to buy units of DragonWave's AirPair and Horizon Compact products to support its broadband wireless services.

"The need for scalable, easy-to-deploy and cost-effective wireless links optimized for high-capacity networking is gathering momentum, and we are very pleased to have been selected by Nextlink," said DragonWave CEO Peter Allen in a statement. "We look forward to continuing to work closely with Nextlink to address their customers' evolving needs for broadband services."

The products will be used to provide backhaul for wireless service providers to support high-bandwidth services, as an alternative to wireline networks.
