Elliptic Semiconductor is partnering with a leading security products company in China to supply the Ottawa-based company's asymmetric security engines in the Asian and international markets.

China-based Jetway Security Micro has licensed Elliptic's cryptography engine as the first step in a partnership aimed at building a suite of security system-on-chip (SoC) semiconductor devices which use Jetway's high-performance public key algorithms.

"Elliptic has worked closely with Jetway Security Micro over the last year with the goal of tailoring Elliptic's asymmetric security engines to precisely fit the market requirement as defined by the team at Jetway," said Elliptic vice-president of marketing Al Hawtin in a statement. "With the astounding growth and large pool of venture capital available in Asia, this collaboration should pay rich dividends to both parties with security as a fundamental requirement for the infrastructure build-out underway."

The two companies have agreed to work together on a long-term basis to tailor Elliptic's engines to the evolving needs of the target markets and applications specified by Jetway.
