CHANTRY NETWORKS EXTOLLS THE BENEFITS OF

ROUTED WLAN SOLUTIONS

--Chantry Networks Demonstrates BeaconWorks™ – the world’s only routed WLAN solution; Co-Founder Brian Collie Participating in Panel Discussion on WLANs—

BOSTON—802.11 PLANET CONFERENCE, BOOTH #827—JUNE 24, 2003—Chantry Networks, the provider of the world's first routed wireless LAN solution will demonstrate the benefits of its BeaconWorks WLAN system at the 802.11 Planet Conference, Boston, June 25 – 27, 2003.  Chantry’s unique routed architecture provides significant advantages in scalability, virtualization and availability over all of the competing, switch-based technologies.  Chantry Networks’ co-founder and executive vice president of Product Operations, Brian Collie, will also explore the evolution of wireless LANs at a panel session, “The Future of WLANs,” on Friday, June 27.

“The whole concept of centralized wireless LANs is taking the WLAN world by storm,” said Craig Mathias, a Principal with Farpoint Group (Ashland, MA). “Notice I used the term ‘centralized’ rather than ‘switched’. Chantry has demonstrated that the thinking around this new paradigm must extend beyond the concept of a switch, to one which encompasses the entire enterprise network.”

Mathias will moderate the “The Future of WLANs” panel with participants from Texas Instruments, Newbury Networks, Bermai, Inc., Airgo Networks and Chantry Networks’ Brian Collie.  As one of Chantry’s co-founders, Collie draws upon his more than twenty years in the telecommunications and networking industry to oversee the company’s engineering and manufacturing operations center in Toronto. Prior to founding Chantry, Collie held management roles at Nortel Networks’ Wireless LAN & PAN Division and Nortel’s Internet Solutions Division.  Collie was a senior member of Bay Networks’ merger and acquisition team, and he has held senior positions with Motorola’s Internet and Data Networking Group and Bell Canada’s Computer Communication Group (CCG).

In addition, Chantry will demonstrate how BeaconWorks’ technology gives organizations the scalability to handle tens of thousands of wireless network users; how its virtualization features enable multiple VPNs on one physical network; and why its approach to availability is the most cost-effective solution to redundancy on the market today.

Chantry’s BeaconWorks, launched on April 21, 2003, has received positive coverage in many media outlets, including 802.11Planet, The Boston Globe, Communications Design, Computerworld, EE Times, eWeek, InformationWeek, Mass High Tech, Network World, PlanetAnalog.com and Unstrung.  Its successful unveiling at this year’s Networld+Interop tradeshow included being selected as a finalist for the “Best of Interop” awards in the Wireless category.
