Ottawa's DragonWave Inc. has won approval for its AirPair wireless Ethernet radio product to be used throughout Russia.
DragonWave said the Russian Ministry of Communications has approved the company to offer the point-to-point microwave radios designed for Internet protocol and carrier networks through its reseller Cedicom.
"Russia is seen by many industry experts as a significant growth market for broadband wireless," said DragonWave CEO Peter Allen in a statement. "Global expansion has been a central element of this company's business plan, so with a strong distribution channel in place and the next-generation AirPair radio now approved for deployment, DragonWave is committed to expanding its presence in this market."
The AirPair product, which is used to help rapidly introduce broadband access networks where fibre-optic or copper-line connectivity is either unavailable or impracticable, is currently also available in Dubai and Pakistan.
DragonWave recently also partnered with NextWave Broadband Inc. to bring its products to several European markets, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia and Slovakia.
