Paul Bradley, Venture Partner, Canadian Cleantech Fund

   

Paul is an expert on energy policy and economics.  In 2005, Paul was  sought out by the Ontario Power Authority to help with the crisis in power generation in the province of Ontario.  As Vice President for Generation Development, Paul’s responsibility was for long term planning of Ontario’s generating capacity.  His current position at OPA is Vice President of Electrical Resources and administration.

Paul brings 20 years of experience in financing and developing independent power projects and transacting in deregulating energy markets. Paul's eight years in Ontario s electricity industry includes advising government ministries and agencies on the 1999 restructuring of the electricity market, ownership options for Ontario Hydro's successor companies, and best practices for financing new power generation.

In 2003, Paul served as Co-advisor to the Ontario Power Generation Review Committee, chaired by the Honourable John Manley. Most recently, Paul was founder and managing director of PJB Energy Solutions, a financial advisory and direct investment company dedicated to the Ontario electricity sector including renewable resources and technologies promoting responsible energy usage.

Paul concurrently served as the Financial Services industry representative to the Technical Panel of the Independent Electric System Operator. Paul was previously an Executive Director for the Power and Utilities group of the investment bank CIBC World Markets.

He also worked for eight years in the U.S. and Asia for Duke Energy Corporation where he was Director of Finance and Project Director for Duke s Independent Power Subsidiary, with supplementary roles in treasury, risk management, and mergers & acquisitions.

Paul has also served as a Senior Accountant at Arthur Anderson & Co. in the Small Business Client Services group which provided audit, tax and consulting services for small entrepreneurial and growth oriented companies.

In his private sector roles, Paul has managed very large transactions. Paul brings Venture Coaches a very deep foundation in large energy sector transactions and policy that will help guide our investments and provide a strong direction for investee companies. Paul is currently on the Board of Directors for Stratacon Inc., and Clean Energy Developments. He has invested privately in both companies.

Paul is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and has a Bachelors degree from Boston College magna cum laude.
